Table, 20 x 16" oil on canvas (Sold)

This painting was an assignment given in the Fall of my Freshman year in Painting I. I believe my professor called it the "Thumb Painting", as we were instructed to paint a still life without using brush strokes that were bigger than our thumbs or smaller than our fingernail. We were to democratically touch the canvas in different places, so that over the course of the painting the negative space of the canvas would begin to close in, resulting in slight variations of color broken up with traces of the bare, toned canvas. I completed this assignment on the first canvas I ever stretched myself by hand and it continues to be one of my favorite pieces.
